This July, the outreach unit of Hin Nam No National Protected Area (HNN NPA) supported the traditional celebration on fish release day at Sa Ang Village, Bualapha District in Khammouane Province. Lao PDR’s National Aquatic and Wildlife Day is usually celebrated on July 13 each year. As part of this annual celebration, people across the country release fingerling fishes into lakes, ponds, and rivers to draw attention to the conservation and protection of diverse terrestrial and aquatic wildlife.

On 10th of May the Outreach Unit of Hin Nam No National Protected Area (HNN NPA) visited Nong Ping village in Boualapha District in order to follow-up on its school garden project. The garden was set-up earlier this year and after the first three months, the team of government volunteers and GIZ advisors was more than curious to get to know the results and experiences so far. For the experts on environmental education it was not only interesting to see if and how the vegetables grow. They were even more eager to inquire about the student’s experiences with the small project and their understanding about the linkage between school garden and nature conservation.
Ban Nongping: From January 6 to 7 the outreach unit of Hin Nam No National Protected Area disseminated information about biodiversity conservation in Ban Nongping, located at Boualapha district/ Khammouane province.
A team of 4 government volunteers from Boualapha district is getting trained at Vientiane in order to use the JOOMLA content management system for updating and maintaining the Hin Nam No website.
Due to the successful efforts over the last year, we now have an effective team of about 230 people managing the Hin Nam No National Protected Area.
