Hin Nam No team receives JOOMLA training

Vientiane, 20. Nov. 2015:

A team of 4 government volunteers from Boualapha district is getting trained at Vientiane in order to use the JOOMLA content management system for updating and maintaining the Hin Nam No website.

As part of the capacity building activities a team of 4 young government volunteers from the District Office of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) of Boualapha district/ Khammouane province are currently receiving a training at the office of INSMAI Creative Solutions Company in Vientiane capital. The training is about the proper use and application of JOOMLA content management system. The Hin Nam No website is set up and managed by this open source software. Until now an external service provider had to be contracted to keep the website updated and properly managed. “We (from GIZ) have a very high interest that the government staff working for the Hin Nam No National Protected Area (HNN NPA) become more and more skilled and thus less dependent on external help”, explains Mr. Thomas Wiedenmann, development advisor from GIZ working for the Hin Nam No project.

Although the JOOMLA content management systems provides a vast variety of tools, functions and applications, for a day-to-day routine only a limited amount of them are really used. Updating news, providing new pictures, changing and adopting existing contents or modifying maps are within the schedule of this training. The theoretical and practical sessions will last 1.5 days. There are strong expectations that by the end of the GIZ supported project phase the team of HNN NPA can manage the website independently.
