The Kickoff Meeting on Youth Community Participation in Combatting Illegal Wildlife Trade Took Place in Hin Nam No

The kickoff meeting on youth community participation in combatting illegal wildlife trade pilot project at Hin Nam No Nation Park was hosted on the 7th February 2022 which was led by Ph.D. Sinnasone Sengchanthavong, Deputy head of Provincial Natural Resource and Environment Office, and Mr. Soukhan Inthanouhak, Deputy head of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office of Khammouan province with participating from head of Hin Nam No Nation Park office, and representatives of related offices of target districts. The pilot project will be implemented by the Rural Development Association (RDA) and co-financed between an IUCN-CEPF grant and Protection and Sustainable Use of Forest Ecosystems and Biodiversity (ProFEB). The pilot project expects to implement for 24 months. It aims to improve the skills of local youth to become role models or champions for wildlife conservation. Accordingly, the local youth will understand better the value of wildlife and biodiversity conservation within the Hin Nam No National Park. The outcome of this pilot can become a best practice from the province in supporting the reduction of wildlife consumption and law enforcement in tracking wildlife trades.
